Originally from Waterloo, Iowa, soprano MaKayla McDonald is an active performer of new work and art song. This fall, MaKayla will return to American Opera Project as a resident ensemble member for Composers and the Voice. Additional Fall engagements to be announced soon!

MaKayla holds both a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Northern Iowa.

MaKayla currently resides in Brooklyn, NY and is an Adjunct Lecturer of Voice for the Borough of Manhattan Community College Music and Art Department (BMCC-CUNY).  Offstage, you can usually find MaKayla in the kitchen trying a new recipe, cozied up reading a book, or enjoying the sights and foods of the city!
