About us

Who We Are

The Sound Between is a New York City-based ensemble dedicated to immersing our audiences in a world of musical storytelling. We believe that music and stories are the connective tissue that binds people together. Our aim is to offer our audiences a new way of experiencing ensemble art, focusing on the story as much as the music.

OUR MISSION

The mission of The Sound Between is to create bold, inclusive, and original ensemble art that focuses on storytelling and celebrates the richness and diversity of our community.

We ask our artists to bring their full artistic selves to our projects. Their work in diverse artistic worlds fully harnesses their individual lived experience and training as performing artists, allowing us to highlight both narrative and music.

We hope our focus on storytelling through music will encourage fresh faces to join our classical music and theatrical audiences, create opportunities for commissioning innovative concert-length works, and engage our artists in new and exciting ways.

The Sound Between
is dedicated to…

Producing
performances that move our audiences through the power of storytelling and human connection.

Changing
the expectations of a traditional ensemble music experience.

Creating
an immersive world for our audiences to sink into.
