Contralto Kirsten Sollek has been called “ …an appealingly rich alto” (The New York Times) and an alto with “elemental tone quality” (The Philadelphia Inquirer). She has been featured with Kansas City Symphony, Bach Collegium Japan, Minnesota Orchestra, Seattle Baroque Orchestra, Musica Angelica Baroque, Concerto Palatino, and Boston Baroque. Ms. Sollek has worked extensively with John Zorn, and has performed with Alarm Will Sound, Ensemble Signal, Sandbox Percussion, and NOVUS New York. Operatic credits include the Woman in Hannah Lash’s Desire, the Dying Cow in Lisa Bielawa’s video opera, Vireo, Bradamante in Handel’s Alcina with the Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Rosmira in Handel’s Partenope with Boston Baroque, and the title role (cover) in Handel’s Rinaldo for the Glyndebourne Festival.
2024/25: Luigi Nono’s Guai ai Gelidi Mostri with Talea Ensemble in Brooklyn, Handel’s Messiah with Church of the Epiphany in Seattle, and Zorn’s Holy Visions with Orchestra of St. Luke’s in NYC.
